Famous train views of the Rhaetian Railways

The Rhaetian Railways is the largest UNESCO World Heritage site. It covers the train tracks of the Rhaetian Railways in Graubünden (Grisons).  And it features the probably most famous photo spot in Eastern Switzerland: the Landwasser Viaduct near Filisur. (194) Photographers capture the Landwasser bridge from different perspectives: from the train window or from the visitor platform. Working with a drone here is an idea to get a new perspective. A lesser known photo spot of the Rhaetian Railways’ world heritage site is the Brusio train circuit near Poschiavio. Take the Bernina Express route from Pontresina to Poschiavio to get here. (671)

North-Eastern gems in Mustair, Sardona and St. Gallen

If you happen to get to the Far East of Switzerland, Val Mustair is your next UNESCO World Heritage stop: The convent of St John in Val Mustair provides a throwback to ancient times and a great setting far off the beaten paths. (835)

One of the last white spots on the Swiss map are the unique and lesser known landscapes of the tectonic arena of Sardona. They are also part of the UNESCO World Heritage. (767)

If you have time in the summer, do yourself a favour and hike to widely unknown places such as Mount Zigerchnörri with Churfirsten in the background. (702)

Classic sites of Aletsch, Bern and Lavaux

With the largest glacier in Europe, the UNESCO World Heritage Aletsch region  reminds us of our precious glaciers.  (738, 884)

The old town of Bern is another of the more well-known UNESCO World Heritage sites. Bern was even awarded a prize for the most instagramable city in Europe. In the photos of Bern you can see why (463, 375, 836).

If you love Swiss watches then head West from Bern to La-Chaux-de-Fonds. It’s the centre of the Swiss watchmaking industry. It’s probably fair to say that you won’t visit this town for the outdoor views but here is one amazing one: (840)
