July is the best time to take amazing pictures at higher altitudes. You can do longer trips off the beaten paths. Beware of the crowds: July to mid August is also the busiest time of the year due to the Swiss school holidays, as well as lots of travellers and tourists everywhere in the country.

Hardergrat hike above lake Brienz

How about Augstmatthorn above Brienz? It’s always been one of the most famous hikes in Switzerland. You’ve probably seen the stunning ridges of the Hardergrat trail before if you are on Instagram (409).

Discover deep blue and turquoise waters from melting glaciers at higher altitudes. Some examples are Blausee (Kandertal), Lac de Tseuzier (Valais)  or Caumasee (Films) (1032).
